“Aisha” is a Hindi film based on the classic Jane Austen novel Emma, produced by Anil Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. Playing the lead role of Aisha Kapoor, the Indian version of Emma, is the director’s daughter- Sonam Kapoor! Abhay Deol will be portraying Aisha’s love interest, Arjun. Ira Dubey, Amrita Puri, Cyrus Sahukar, and Arunoday Singh also star in the film.
Set in Delhi, “Aisha” tells the story of a diva and socialite. She is rich, beautiful, and always the center of attention - and she wouldn’t have it any other way! Caught up in the Delhi upper class world with its own set of social rules, Aisha navigates her own world with a positive attitude and an optimistic outlook on life.
Of course, with every great story come some complications. Aisha knows everything about everyone but hates it when people are all up in her business. Arjun gets tangled up in Aisha’s complicated situations and simply believes all of her problems would be solved if she just minds her own business.
Caught in Aisha’s web of disorganization are Pinky, her best friend, Shefali, the less rich but wittier girl in town, the west Delhi boy Randhir and the heartthrob Dhruv who catches everyone’s eye. As Aisha strives to get her life in check, all Arjun wants to do is detangle her from the sticky web of disaster she has yet again gotten herself into!
The film features a lot of fun dance tunes that captivate the audience and put them in a good mood! Although Emma is a more dramatic themed novel, “Aisha” is a light-hearted romantic comedy. The film features seven tracks, the musical composition is done by Amit Trivedi and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar. The scheduled release for the film is August 6, 2010.
