Producer P.L. Thenappan is well known for producing so many movies in the past. Now he is coming up with this film that is directed by Raja Mithran and features Aadhi, Meera Nandan in the lead roles. Aadhi has tried
establishing himself in the role of a commercial hero as he dances with commercial title song, romancing with heroine and many other entertainment ingredients.
The film opens with Prabhakaran aka Prabha (Aadhi) digging graveyard for his younger brother Saravanan (Vishnu Priyan). The flashback reveals that there is hostility between him and his younger brother for every reason. It is because he is the breadwinner in the family and Prabhakar is still unemployed. Finally, Prabhakar gets employed in Railways through Sports quota. But due to some family problems with his younger brother, Prabha is thrown out of the house. All of sudden he joins as henchman of a politician and starts killing his own supporters with a suspense unraveled during the climax.
Getting on with the performance level, actor Aadhi has done justice to his role of an aggressive youngster and he does his part well. Meera Nandan doesn’t get a proper role in this film. Maybe, she has to be careful about
choosing the best script and a good role. Vishnu Priyan as the stammering brother expresses his emotions well and he is the show stealer in this movie. Jayaprakash has been completely wasted in this movie as his part
isn’t as prominent as in his previous movies. Santhanam is so disappointing as he doesn’t appear more than couple of scenes in the film. Musical score by Thamman S is very average as couple of songs is good and
the cinematography is so amateurish as we the shade of camera during night shots in many places.
As a whole, ‘Ayyanar’ is a very bleak commercial movie that has no logics and it will make you restless soon after the second half.
